Level 3 CIPD-Certified HR Support Apprenticeship

Our Level 3 CIPD-certified HR Support apprenticeship is ideal for individuals looking to begin or develop a career in human resources, providing essential knowledge, skills and behaviours to support businesses and their employees effectively.

This programme is the CIPD-certified Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship, designed for those working in HR roles across a variety of organisations. HR professionals play a crucial role in supporting day-to-day operations, from handling employee queries and coordinating recruitment to ensuring compliance with employment law and company policies.

Apprentices will learn how to use HR systems, maintain accurate records, and produce reports that inform business decisions. They’ll also develop the confidence to support change initiatives, contribute to HR policy implementation, and reduce legal risks to the business.

Duration: Typically completed over 12-18 months.

Entry Requirements: There are no minimum grade requirements. However, if an apprentice has not already achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in English and maths and is aged 16-19, they will need to complete Level 2 Functional Skills in both subjects before taking their end-point assessment.

Apprenticeship KSB's

All apprenticeships are built around three key areas: Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours. These form the foundation of the apprenticeship and must be fully developed and demonstrated by the learner before they can progress to their End Point Assessment (EPA).

Knowledge
  • Understanding the Business: Learn how your organisation is structured, what services it provides, and how your HR role supports the wider business goals and values.
  • HR Legislation and Policy: Gain a solid understanding of employment law and company policies relevant to your role. You’ll learn where to find guidance and how to apply it in practice.
  • The Role of HR: Understand how HR contributes to the success of the business, and how its priorities align with the company’s overall strategy.
  • HR Systems and Processes: Learn to use key HR tools and systems accurately and efficiently, following agreed processes and maintaining high standards of record-keeping.
Skills
  • Deliver HR Services: Respond to queries, provide accurate advice to managers and staff, and offer day-to-day support across a range of HR functions.

  • Use HR Systems and Meet Targets: Confidently use systems to deliver services and track your work. Take initiative to meet personal and team goals aligned with company policies and values.

  • Manage and Plan Workloads: Organise your time and workload independently, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to the right standard.

  • Solve Problems: Use questioning and listening techniques to understand issues. Take ownership of resolving problems and escalate where needed.

  • Communicate Effectively: Communicate clearly and professionally through emails, calls and face-to-face conversations. Adapt your style to suit different people and situations.

  • Work as a Team: Build strong working relationships within your team and across the business. Support colleagues to achieve shared goals.

  • Drive Improvement: Spot opportunities to improve HR services and processes. Contribute to change by supporting the implementation of new systems or ways of working.

  • Handle HR Information: Keep accurate HR records and produce reports to support decision-making, with attention to detail and data protection in mind.

  • Grow Professionally: Keep up to date with changes in business and HR policy. Actively seek feedback to develop your skills and confidence in your role.

Behaviours
  • Honesty and Integrity: Be trustworthy and professional in everything you do. Maintain confidentiality and speak up when something doesn’t seem right.

  • Flexibility: Adapt to changing priorities and take on new tasks with a positive attitude when the situation demands it.

  • Resilience: Stay motivated and upbeat, even when facing challenges. Manage pressure and bounce back from setbacks with confidence.

Workshops and Delivery

Our Level 3 CIPD-certified HR Support Apprenticeship workshops are delivered using a hybrid model with some workshops based online and some based in the workplace.

We use a roll-on, roll-off delivery model, so learners can start at any point in the cycle. This means your first workshop might be someone else’s fifth – or even their last! Don’t worry, you won’t miss out – every topic is covered in rotation.

Workshops are mandatory, and an important part of building the knowledge and skills needed to pass your End Point Assessment.

HR Support Apprenticeship Assessment Plan

Your apprenticeship includes three key checkpoints to assess your progress and prepare you for your End Point Assessment.

Timing may vary slightly based on your individual progress:

  • Checkpoint 1 – Around Month 6
A knowledge test to check your understanding so far.

  • Checkpoint 2 – Between Months 8–10
A review of your portfolio and preparation for your project.

  • Checkpoint 3 – Between Months 12–14
A mock End Point Assessment to get you ready for the real thing.

These checkpoints help ensure you’re developing the right skills, knowledge and behaviours at the right pace.

Gateway & End Point Assessment

Apprentices can only progress to Gateway once they have successfully passed Checkpoint 3 and are fully prepared.

Gateway marks the start of the End Point Assessment period, which typically lasts up to 3 months for the Team Leader apprenticeship. It begins with a formal discussion involving the apprentice, their tutor, employer and Site Assessor. During this meeting, all entry requirements are reviewed and confirmed – including Functional Skills (if needed) and portfolio completion.

Once through Gateway, the apprentice begins their End Point Assessment, which includes:

  • Consultative Project
  • Professional Discussion
